Effective Ways to Reduce Criminal Acts

David Golembiowski Port Authority Police
A plethora of researches and experiments have proven the fact that human being is malignant and self-guided. Their goals and agendas are motivated by personal motives and endless desires. Solely due to this notion they are meant to break rules and fulfill their desires. There is no such country where there are 0% criminal act and violence even in the developed countries we come across cases where crime, injustice, corruption, and misconduct is explicitly seen. Hence the probability of breaking the rules is inevitable from human nature. Psychological activities and various socio-economic factors can affect its ratio and bring to a minimum level. Here are some policies and regulatory actions that can reduce criminal acts efficiently.

Alcohol pricing:

Evidence from both natural experiments and modeling studies support a link between alcohol pricing and overall crime. One study examining the influence of the price of beer on injuries suggested that increased alcohol prices would result in substantially fewer violent injuries.

Violence as a public health concern:

We need to use campaigns and technology to reach every child and family in these countries. We need to develop those tools to make sure that everybody feels important and cared for through parenting interventions, family interventions, wellbeing campaigns, and early childhood education.

Hot-spot policing:

Police can play a huge role in reducing crime, especially by adopting evidence-based tactics like hot-spot policing. In many cities, a very small subset of places, down to the street and block level, drives most of the crime. So deploying police, intelligently, in these specific areas can have a big impact on fighting crime and violence.

Avoid repressive policies:

While justice and police have an important role to play, repression only is counter-productive if not combined with development interventions that look at the drivers of violence and tackle things like skills and education of youth, socio-economic inequalities, and access to communal services.

Focus on gun control:

Where there are no guns, there are no gun deaths. A simple and practical way to start impacting armed violence is to try to stem the flow of illegal guns.

Use non-violent language:

In a nation that has a long history of violence, we need to teach non-violence and non-violent communication. Preaching non-violent communication, conflict resolution and basic communication skills have always been powerful tools to reduce injustice, violence, and crime.
